On, Saturday, December 28, 2019, at 6:00 PM, the community came out to join the African American Museum of the Arts in Deland, Florida to celebrate Kwanzaa. This event was fun-filled with special performances, speeches, food, and dancing. Mama - Donya Maria Twyanre educated the community on Kwanzaa. The libations presentation was presented by Sean King. Viola Jackson, had the audience dance, while spoken word was performed by Kevin Campell and Sharon Brown. The lighting of the candles that represent each day of Kwanzaa and more was explained. The Kwanzaa celebration was hosted by the museum Executive Director Mary Allen.
