The Omicron Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. held its annual Achievement Week banquet on Nov. 8 at the Michael & Libby Johnson Center for Civic Engagement on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University.

Among this year's honorees at the banquet was Deep Focus-News' own writer and blogger Andreas Butler who was awarded Journalist of the Year. Butler is also an award-winning Journalist for the Daytona Times. Butler said, "it's weird being on the other side. Usually, I am working covering such events. I am thankful and I am appreciative of this honor."

Other honorees included Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri; B-CU College of Business & Entrepreneurship Dean and Volusia County School Board Chair Dr. Ida D. Wright; Orlando Police Officer James Howard, III; B-CU College of Education Dean Dr. Stephanie Pasley-Henry; and Johnson Insurance Agency Owner Rufus Johnson.

The event was also attended by members of the Divine Nine, a group of individuals representing all Black fraternities and sororities and several local public officials.
