Volusia County-Daytona Beach NAACP Announces 2026 Election Schedule
The Volusia County-Daytona Beach Branch of the NAACP has announced key dates for its 2026 branch election process, including the selection of a Nominating Committee, the receipt of nominations, and the election of officers and at-large members of the Executive Committee.
The schedule was shared as part of the branch’s monthly meeting recap and outlines several steps members should note now. Participation depends on membership status, so members who plan to take part should review the deadlines carefully and make sure their membership is current within the required time frames.

The September meeting will begin the nominating process
The first major date is Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the John H. Dickerson Center, Activity Building, 308 S. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
At this meeting, members will elect the Nominating Committee. The committee will include between 5 and 15 members.
To be eligible for election to the Nominating Committee, a member must have a membership that is current as of 30 days before the September 24 meeting date. The branch also noted that no more than two officers of the unit may serve on the Nominating Committee.
This step matters because the Nominating Committee helps shape the slate of candidates that will be considered during the branch election process. It is one of the first formal points of member participation in the 2026 cycle.
For those tracking Daytona Beach, NAACP, Volusia County civic involvement, this September meeting marks the official start of a process that depends on active, eligible membership.
Key election dates at a glance
The branch shared three main dates for members to keep on their calendars. Each date has a different purpose in the election process.
Date | Time | Location or format | Purpose |
Thursday, September 24, 2026 | 6:00 PM | John H. Dickerson Center, Activity Building | Election of the Nominating Committee |
Thursday, October 22, 2026 | 6:00 PM | John H. Dickerson Center, Activity Building | Nominating Committee report, receipt of nominations by petition, and election of the Election Supervisory Committee |
Thursday, November 12, 2026 | 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM | Electronic voting platform | Election of officers and at-large members of the Executive Committee |

The October meeting will include nominations and election oversight
The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM, also at the John H. Dickerson Center, Activity Building, 308 S. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
This meeting will include three important items:
The report of the Nominating Committee
Receipt of nominations by petition
Election of the Election Supervisory Committee
Members who wish to be nominated for office, or as an at-large member of the Executive Committee, must meet specific eligibility requirements. According to the notice, eligible nominees must have memberships that are current as of May 1 of the election year. Their memberships must also remain continuous throughout the election process.
Nominees must also live and/or work within the branch unit’s jurisdiction.
Different requirements apply for members who want to sign a nominating petition or be elected to the Election Supervisory Committee. In those cases, a member must be current as of 30 days before the October meeting.
This October gathering is an important bridge between the committee selection phase and the final vote. It gives members a chance to hear the Nominating Committee’s report and take part in the petition and oversight portions of the process. It also connects the branch’s general meeting, election calendar, and committee responsibilities into one clear step before voting opens in November.
The November election will use electronic voting
The election of officers and at-large members of the Executive Committee is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2026.
Voting will be administered through the branch’s electronic voting platform. The voting window will be open from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
To vote in the branch election, a person must be a member in good standing of the branch 30 days before the election.
Members who plan to vote should make sure they understand how the electronic voting process will work before Election Day. The announcement did not include technical instructions, so members should watch for any branch updates about access, voter verification, or other voting details as the date approaches.

Runoff election details will follow if needed
The branch also noted that a runoff election may be held if necessary.
If a runoff is required, it must take place not less than 10 days after the original election. The notice also states that the runoff would occur on a following date, at a time certain for at least one hour, and at the stated location. Specific runoff details were not included in the recap, so members should look for branch communication if that step becomes necessary.
Runoffs are used when an election requires an additional vote to determine the final outcome. Members who are eligible to vote in the original election should pay attention after November 12 in case a runoff announcement is made.
Membership status is central to participation
Across the full schedule, membership status is the key requirement. Different activities use different membership dates, so members should not assume one deadline applies to every part of the process.
The main eligibility points are:
To be elected to the Nominating Committee, membership must be current 30 days before the September 24 meeting.
To be nominated for office or as an at-large Executive Committee member, membership must be current as of May 1, 2026, and remain continuous through the election process.
To sign a nominating petition or serve on the Election Supervisory Committee, membership must be current 30 days before the October 22 meeting.
To vote in the branch election, membership must be in good standing 30 days before the November 12 election.
These requirements help ensure that branch elections reflect the participation of members who are active and eligible under the stated rules.

Members are encouraged to take part
The Volusia County-Daytona Beach NAACP is encouraging members to participate in each stage of the 2026 election process. The schedule begins with the September election of the Nominating Committee, continues with the October nominations and supervisory committee process, and concludes with electronic voting in November.
The announcement was shared by Posie Elliott, Secretary, on behalf of the Volusia County-Daytona Beach NAACP.
Members who plan to participate should review the dates, confirm their membership status, and watch for any additional instructions from the branch as the election period approaches.
