After Mainland Principal Cheryl Salerno was assigned to teach a speech course with nine senior athletes, and never did, she was investigated and notes show that no such class had been taught. This happened the same year as she had her school staff, give a ‘placebo’ AP test to 336 freshmen students at Mainland High School.
Mrs. Salerno, appealed her suspension and lost, which led to her retiring before being fired last week. The Volusia County School District investigated and found that she had given senior class athletes identical A grades for a class that never existed last year. These violations of unethical practices led to her stepping down from her position and retiring early.
