Sunday May 22, 2019 was the birthday of Malcolm X. Daytona Beach celebrated in Joe Harris Park. Rell Black is the founder of the Community Healing Project, Inc. People traveled to attend this event from as far as Miami Beach, Orlando, Sanford, Deland, and Winter Park.
Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was assassinated on Feb. 21, 1965 during a speaking engagement at Manhattan's Audubon Ballroom in New York City. Malcolm X was 39 years old.
The support Mr. Black received from the community was amazing. Donations included cases of water, juices, hamburgers, hotdogs, hamburger and hotdog buns, ice cream, popcorn, cases of cereal and can goods. “Shy” Morris, founder of Peace Arts, provided face painting for the kids. There were vendors, performances by artist and music sponsored by 104.7.
