A Lack Of Black Voter Turnout In Volusia County Causes Concern For November Primary

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

Cynthia Slater Daytona Beach NAACP President

After a low number of Black voters showed up to vote in the recent primaries, NAACP president made her concern known:

I am outraged at the AA voter turnout numbers in Volusia County! Of the 106,739 voters that turned out for the primaries, only 8,864 Black voters cast ballots for a total of 8.30%! This is a damn shame!!! There are over 30,000 registered AA voters in the county! Maybe we need to give boxes of food out on election day Yes, I said it, and I don’t care who gets mad!!!

With all of the racial injustices and discrimination going on in this country, and our people are OBLIVIOUS to what’s going on!!!! What is it going to take people? If 45 wins the election, look out!!!. If I hurt your feelings, It should because this is not a joke!!! If you don't exercise your right to vote, you are still voting for the other side.
